Of course anyone, and everyone, can use any of the many services that the Northern Star Cooperative has to offer without being a member, but since Northern Star Cooperative is member owned, you need to join the Co-op in order to receive a dividend check. Cooperatives return their profits back to the people who use them, in proportion to what the customer spends there.

In January 2011, we distributed checks totaling over $684,505 to 10,690 local patrons. In order to do this for you, we need to track your purchases. Because of the wonders of electronics, we can do this fairly easily, but the first thing you need to do is contact us by postal mail, e-mail or stop in at our main office at 105 Main Ave.West in Deer River and fill out a short application. This can be for charging privileges or just for a cash account used for tracking purchases only. In either case, you can begin to build ownership in your own company, Northern Star Cooperative. Patronage dividends can really add up!
